This is a two-day seminar that teaches adventure-based or experiential facilitators how to apply Process Communication in facilitation, stressing the importance of the different personality types, psychological needs, perceptions and channels. The six major sources of conflict in groups are identified, and formulas are presented to resolve them and enhance effective communication, learning and productivity. A variety of experiential activities help facilitators integrate the concepts to enhance their existing facilitation skills. Unintended Consequences: Children of Addiction

The third installment of Prairie View’s substance abuse education series welcomes Jerry Moe, M.A., vice president and national director of children’s programs at the Betty Ford Center, to discuss substance abuse and addiction to methamphetamine and other drugs, as well as the resulting effects on children who live in homes where addiction is present.

The event will kick off Tuesday with the Dillon Lecture Series and a free public educational event, then continue Wednesday with an all-day conference where topics such as science-based evidence to help children overcome adversity and research-based methods to help them in the classroom, family context and the social world in which they live will be addressed.

CEUs are available.

The Dillon Lecture Series is also sponsoring a contest for youth in grades K-12. Poster designs, songs and poems relating to “Living Drug-Free” are sought, and winners will receive prizes. Click on the event brochure link for the details.
